Grahams Driving Academy believes that road safety education is paramount to improving and maintaining safety on the nations roads. We are committed to working with organisations and students, in particular between the ages of 17 and 24, who are more likely to be involved in a road traffic accident than any other age group in Ireland.

This is one statistic that we are all trying to eradicate. Road safety awareness is a subject that cant be taken for granted or discussed without conviction. Thats why Grahams Driving Academy is actively getting involved in educating our future drivers to help them fully understand the road and its potential dangers before even sitting in the driving seat.

The introduction of the new compulsory Essential Driver Training that the Road Safety Authority has implemented from the 4th April 2011 is a step in the right direction in improving driving standards in our younger drivers. Since the 4th of April 2011 the EDT require's all learner drivers wishing to sit their driving test to obtain a certificate from a registered RSA instructor.

This certificate can be signed off in effect after 12 one hour lessons have been taken following a specific driving syllabus. Akin to that the RSA stipulate that these 12 lessons be taken during a six month period during which the test can not be sat. Keep in mind that the 12 hour syllabus will be in addition to all the private practice hours that will be needed to reach the standard required to pass the driving test.

The EDT program is intended to cover many of the crucial skills needed to become a safe and competent driver and to help guarantee learners applying to sit the driving test have reached a satisfactory standard. Passing your driving test can only be the result of excellent planning and driver training. Driver training will give you the skills; however it is planning for the test that will be most important.
